About

Marybeth Rothman is a contemporary American artist known for her fictional visual biographies and abstract narratives, created through layered photographic imagery and translucent material surfaces. Her portraits were featured in Modigliani and the Modern Portrait at the Nassau County Museum of Art. The exhibition placed her work in dialogue with the portraiture of Amedeo Modigliani alongside artists including Pablo Picasso, Henri Matisse, David Hockney, and Eric Fischl. Rothman was a Smithsonian National Portrait Gallery Semifinalist in the Outwin Boochever Portrait Competition 2022. Her work was featured throughout the New York Stock Exchange with MvVO Art during Women’s history month 2026. She has exhibited in museums and galleries throughout the US. Rothman was born in Massachusetts and earned a BFA from the Rhode Island School of Design. Her home and studio are in New Jersey.
